Question About German Shepherd Toenails

My german shepherd is experiencing something new and chronic with loss of toenails and some discoloration of nail (white instead of black accompanied by excess washing of paws, chewing on the foot etc.

We have been taking him to our Vet. Advice? Immune or blood disorder? Thank you very much!
