My GSD Mix Bear

by Lorie
(VA)

Bear is about 3.5 months old and she loves to play and chew on things! so we went out and got her a big tub of all kinds of toys she can play with.

Bear is a german shepherd/blue heeler mix. she is solid black with a little white on her chest and a little bit on her paws. she is really fluffy but i had to cut some of her hair because when we got her she had burs in her fur.

she is a really sweet pup! and we just love her!!

Total German Shepherd: Hey Lorie,

Thank you so much for telling us all about your German Shepherd Dog mix - I only wish that you had sent in a picture because I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to have seen Bear "in person".

Either way, I'm sure she is extremely intelligent and a great herder with the heeler blood in her too. Those are really great little working dogs!

So I imagine you have to do a lot to stay one step ahead of her. What an unusual mix - I have never heard of a german shepherd/blue heeler mix before - so that is cool!

Continued success with her in the future an maybe sometime down the line you can send us a picture of your wonderful german shepherd/blue heeler mix, Bear!!

My GSD Mix Bear
by: Linda Arnold - St Louis

Congratulations on your new pup, Bear! Dogs are wonderful, so loyal and faithful. You have lots of years ahead with your beloved Bear good luck to both of you.

I don't know what a blue heeler is but I do with the Shepherd part. Bear will have German Shepherd instinct and with that she will probably be Protective which is great. Take care of your girl and she will take care of you.

Rebuttal and congrats!
by: Mary

I re read all
comments and just can't see ANYWHERE where someone talks about breeding these two breeds intentionally.

I jumped to the conclusion that she found this cute pup at a shelter, who knows- but why attack on an ungrounded basis. We are all dog lovers here!

Congrats on your new pup!! I too have a GSD/collie mix- which I rescued a day before she was out down!

so sorry
by: Anonymous

so sorry that I do not agree with mixing purebreeds. Especially German Shepherd Dogs, which I am totally in love with and involved with bettering the breed.

That means no mixing breeds. Intentional mixing breeds is no good thing, when dealing with purebreeds. I do wish people would just get a little more information about what they are doing.

There was a day when a lady walked up to me and my beautiful German Shepherd Dog and told me how beautiful he is and that the colors in his coat were similar to her dogs so "could we have puppies?" This was a woman who knew nothing about mixing breeds and was ready to go for it.

Its hard for me to believe what people will do when they know nothing about what is happening. They see nothing wrong with expermenting, having a litter and giving the pups to anyone who will take them. Breeding dogs is not a joke.

Would this person have kids with someone just to see what happens???? I am sorry that I clicked on this e-mail and learned this. Usually it is a person who knows nothing about breeding who will do this. M
