My Black German Shepherd, Little Stickman
by Janet Messer
(Charleston, WV )
We rescued our beautiful black GSD about 3 years ago. I told my husband "for just one month" and you know how this has ended.
Sticky went from running the streets and getting all the little girl dogs pregnant. We're glad to say he should be named 'Ricky' now since he's been, let's just say cured of his friskiness!
He gets along well with Blue, our 12-year-old black lab, and runs around on our one-acre yard. He still barks at everything, but I love him so, so much! He's a fierce protector who loves kids and hates motorcycles and 4-wheelers.
My daughter is not crazy about the Stickman, but she will just have to "suck it up" and go on with her life. My two babies will still be here when she goes off to school.
Anyway, I've tried to walk him in the beginning, but he drag me around (literally) and where I scrapped my leg, I got a blood infection that didn't clear up totally until almost now. (The doctor thought I would lose my leg).
And since I work Four 10-hr-weeks, it's hard to give Stickman a walk. Plus I'm still not strong to walk him as much as he should. Any suggestions?
Thank you. Love your web site. I always had labs, and this is my first GSD. P.S. His previous owner showed his name as 'Icky Sticky'
