German Shepherd run away

I have a 10 month german shepherd and he is the best! New years eve he ran away, maybe because of the fireworks... we have a very large yard that is somewhat fenced in.

ever since new years he likes to go out for a strole by himself, the problem that he never finds his way back. I cant fence all of the property.

when i am not at home, he goes down to the bar, to the neighbors, to the lake. I want him to know that this is home and he is not to go outside without me.
