There a a couple of internet sites for dog food. dogfoodanalysis.com & dogfoodproject.com are 2 good ones. They rate many different brands of foods & you can enter the names of products you may have in your area.
Both my gsds are on orijen products. Their website is www.orijen.ca & they will tell you if you can either buy it in your area or have it shipped in. They are grain free & have meat as the top ingredients.
many gsds have sensitive tummies & corn & grain can aggravate them. Typically the grocery store brands...Purina, Iams, Science, Eukanuba are all grain heavy. Go for the best quality you can afford because you'll end up feeding less as your dog will be getting more nutritional value.

puppy food suggestions by: Debbie
Personally I would advise you to get the best puppy food that you can afford since at this stage in development they need the best food they can get.
With that in mind I'll tell you what brands I like. I really like the Purina Pro Plan Puppy Foods, Bil-Jac Puppy Food as well as the Nutro Natural Choice Puppy Food.
There are many choices on the market in all sorts of brands and price ranges - I'm not exactly sure what is available in Ireland but I would suggest you speak with the people who work at your local pet stores, your vet and the breeder you got the puppy from too.
Then take all that info, read a lot of puppy food bags and make a decision based on your information and budget - I would avoid any food that has corn or any ingredient other than meat as it's first ingredient.
Keep in mind too that if you do change your puppies food to something else that you do it slowly and over the course of a couple of weeks from your old food to the new to cut down on a lot of messy stomach/stool issues that will happen if you just change the food overnight.
