A Bridge Too Far, PD Titan And PD Carts: RIP

PD Titan was no ordinary dog. He was a NSW Police Dog and the first to be killed by an offender in the line of duty in NSW.
Titan was Beychief Magic Return and stood out in the litter. My husband and I were not in a position to keep him. He was donated to the Police Service and enlisted at ten weeks.
He had a wonderful puppy walker until seven months and then an equally great handler who took Titan to the top of his career.
He was greatly loved by the human family he lived with. Off duty he was a family pet, even snuggling at times on the bed and playing with the kids.
Then, one December 23rd, aged just three years, and a member of the Special Operations Unit, Titan was called out to a siege.
The offender eventually broke through police lines in the early hours of the morning. Police were unable to stop him, Titan was deployed.
During the fight that followed, Titan was fatally stabbed but continued to work until the offender was arrested.
He died on the road in his handler's arms.
PD Titan received a Commissioner's Citation for Bravery and the German Shepherd Dog National Council Service Award.
Two years later his younger brother, PD Carts became the second killed by an offender in NSW when a teenager fatally stabbed him after a break in at a Corrimal Surf Club.
Carts also received the National Council Service Dog Award. Carts was given his police name in honour of slain police officer David Carty who had been stabbed to death near Fairfield while off duty and rendering assistance. Carts was Beychief Will Cody.
REST IN PEACE BEYOND THE RAINBOW BRIDGE UNTIL WE ALL MEET AGAIN
